Not at Standish Lipreading Society!

Thanks to Peter Gower, our members are forever improving life's core skills whether it is ability to lipread or perhaps how to shop on-line! Our thanks once again go to West Lancashire Freemasons for enabling this to happen.

Thank You!

Funding is how we run our society and provide our members with support and guidance. This is never easy to obtain so when we receive funding, no matter how big or small, we love to shout it from the rooftops.

Sunday 14 May- Sponsored Walk

Do you fancy joining us in a walk to help raise funds for the Standish Lipreading Society on SUNDAY 14TH MAY 2017? (circular route approx 5 miles, along pavements) from Orrell Water Park.

If so, please register your interest on our Facebook page and don't forget to mention it to your dog (if you have one), who we are sure would like to participate in in the fun too!

Thank you those who turned up today to participate in the sponsored walk organised by our very own Sandra to raise much needed funds for our Society. It began from Orrell Water Park https://www.facebook.com/pages/Orrell-Water-Park/106579129408253. After a heavy rain shower at the beginning, bright sunny weather prevailed for the remainder of our lovely walk. A celebratory coffee, cake and ice cream was had by some at the end at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Madisons-Ice-Cream-Coffee-Parlour/215683035309320. Still calculating what has been raised, so watch this space!

Thank you Tesco and especially Sonia Richardson, Jamie & Wendy for being so positive and accommodating in allowing us to fundraise at the Tesco Extra store on Saturday 20th May between 10-3. The day would not have been such a success in raising over £200 without the immense generosity given by the Wigan public on the day ..... if you were one of these we are extremely grateful. Your kindness will help sustain and promote the viability of our Society and assist those with a hearing loss to become more confident and at ease when communicating with others.

Well, what a lovely day we had collecting @ ASDA, Wigan http://storelocator.asda.com/store/wigan-supercentre. The public were so generous in supporting our Society ..... our efforts however would not have been possible without Asda's Community Champion, Katie Martin. Thank you Katie and all those who kindly donated, your contributions in total raised a massive £182.08! This money will go towards teaching those who suffer from a hearing loss, how to lipread, making their communication skills and lives that little bit better.

Thank You!

We’ve said it before, Standish Lipreading Society could not function without grants and donations so when we do get a grant, we want to tell the world.

Thank you so much Forever Manchester. Your funding will help our members in so many ways.

A Trip To The Theatre

Some of our members hit The Liverpool Playhouse to enjoy the captioned performance of 'Baskerville', the Sherlock Holmes mystery play. The Playhouse has a range of devices to assist those who are hard of hearing and our group probably tried the lot! Both the play and testing of audio equipment were both a positive experience.

We’ve also attended Bolton’s Octagon Theatre for a performance of A Christmas Carol. Check out our pictures and keep checking back to see where we’ll be next.

Thank You Tesco!

Thank You!

Tesco are one of our biggest supporters. This picture is of Sonia Richardson (Tesco’s Community Champion) and Joyce Dalgliesh (Our Chairperson) with a fantastic donation to help us raise valuable funds.

Thank You!
