Visits

Guest visits to our classroom and trips for our members enhance the service we provide. We ensure there’s a warm and friendly atmosphere for everyone making you comfortable and able to make friends with others in the same situation. Below are some of the activities and visits here at Standish Lipreading Society.

Trips to the theatre

Some of our members hit The Liverpool Playhouse to enjoy the captioned performance of ‘Baskerville’, the Sherlock Holmes mystery play. The Playhouse has a range of devices to assist those who are hard of hearing and our group probably tried the lot! Both the play and testing of audio equipment were both a positive experience.

Yet another successful trip to the theatre for our members. This time, we saw East to East at the Octogan Theatre in Bolton. Here are some of our pictures taken on the night.

Classroom Visits

A very special guest attended our class to sample one of our lipreading sessions. It was our very own Lisa Nandy, Member of Parliament for Wigan since 2010! By all accounts she had an enthralling time. Photograph shows Lisa enjoying her chat with our Chairperson Joyce Dalgliesh.
